Who this covers
- Hosts — people who create guidebooks with a Fold account.
- Guests — people who open a host’s guide. Guests don’t need an account.
What we collect
From hosts: your email and name (for sign-in), the content you add to your guides, and billing details. Card numbers are handled by Stripe — we never see or store them.
From guests: the questions you ask the in-guide concierge, and basic, privacy-friendly usage (such as which guide was opened). If a host adds you as a named guest, we store the name and dates they enter.
Automatically: a sign-in cookie, your language preference, and aggregate analytics.
How we use it
To run Fold: host your guides, answer guest questions, recommend nearby places, send essential emails, take payment, and improve the product. We don’t sell your data.
AI features
Fold uses AI to help draft guides, answer guests, and translate content. The concierge answers only from the host’s guide, but AI can make mistakes — please verify anything important. Host content and guest questions are sent to our AI provider to generate these responses.
Who we share with (our processors)
We use trusted providers to run the service: Supabase and Vercel (hosting and database), Stripe (payments), Anthropic (AI), Google (maps and place recommendations), Pexels (stock imagery), Resend (email), and PostHog (analytics). Each only processes what it needs to do its job.
Where data is held
Fold operates from the United Arab Emirates and uses providers that may process data internationally, including in the EU and US, under appropriate safeguards.
Retention & your choices
We keep data while your account is active. You can edit or delete guide content at any time, and request account deletion by emailing unfold@fold.guide. Guests can ask a host — or us — to remove their data.
Security
We use encryption in transit, access controls, and reputable infrastructure. No system is perfectly secure, but we take protection seriously.
Children
Fold isn’t intended for children under 16.
